Why don't I have crafty friends?

Why don't I have crafty friends?

I've been thinking about this lately. Don't get me wrong, I do have some crafty friends. LL is a jack of all trades, KF makes some pretty cards, AK can make nice jewelry when she wants to, and all of my girlfriends have demonstrated creative talent. We made wedding favors and shoes for the bride for pete's sake!

But we never get together and craft. We don'tdiscuss our creative roadblocks or ask for each other's help. They're not obsessed like me! There's no Stitch n Bitch, or artist's retreats, like I read about on so many blogs.

What can I do about it? What AM i going to do about it?
1.I could form a crafty group. Start with my friends. Have them bring their friends. And if no one shows up, I could still spend that time crafting alone.
2. I could invent a project, like a swap, either among my friends or among the internet world.
3.I could sign up for another crafty class. I do this every year or two, but never manage to make friends from them. Maybe an attitude adjustment is called for.
4. I could go to some local art-store gallery openings, like There She Goes, and talk to designers, get familiar with their faces, submit stuff to sell. (this is a pipe dream)
5. ???

In other news I updated my store with new pictures and a new purse.

52 Figments, Question 2

The second question of SwirlyGirl's 52 Figments: A Creative Execise for 2006 is

Money is no object and your safety is guaranteed...where in the world do you want to go?

I would go to India, Malaysia, and Thailand. There are lots more places I'd go, and hopefully WILL go, like Australia, Germany, Spain, Japan, but I wouldn't worry about my safety in those places.

Theme for 2006

I stumbled acrosss SwirlyGirl's 52 Figments: A creative exercise for 2006. Each week she throws out a question and invites people to submit their responses. So of course I had to participate.

The first question is what is your theme for 2006?

After much deliberation, my theme for 2006 is Quality. Quality means several things.

At work quality is putting in a full day's work, getting ahead of deadlines, following up, and a good attitude.

Quality in the things I buy means that I purposefully decide to buy nice things (after researching and saving up for them)For example, i just bought some swank black boots with money i made selling books. They should last forever and are well made. Beautiful, well-made things are worth more money.

Quality in the way I present myself. Hundreds of episodes of What Not to Wear have shown me that the way I dress, makeup, and hairstyle reflect my personality. It's time to pay more attention to these areas, specifically makeup.

Quality decisions. Is this the smartest choice for me? Sometimes buying trendy shoes at payless is the best decision, since i need shoes now, and they'll be out of style next year.

I won't bore you anymore, but look for many good, smart decisions from me this year!

January's theme is personal history.

I'm still here!

Hello gals and gents. yes, i've been neglecting you. But things are returning to normal now.

I've been on vacation for the last two weeks. And I have accomplished little. I shouldn't say that. I got a lot done before Christmas, but after, I've been lazing around. Spent lots of time with the boyfriend. Got way too much sleep. Spent too much money eating out.

But I head back to work tomorrow and things should return to normal. I plan to buy a digital camera soon, so hopefully that will mean lots of crafty pictures!

Here is a camera-phone pic of the earrings I made for my 13-yr old cousin's kid. I had her name in the family gift exchange. I also gave her a purse I made a long time ago, and some stationary customized with her name all wrapped up in a hat box I decorated. The gift went over very well. I was tickled.
